2019 Non-AEA AUDITIONS for POLAR EXPRESS™

Galveston Area Auditions:

Saturday, October 12th, beginning at 11 am at the Galveston Railroad Museum, by appointment. 

Houston Area Auditions:

Sunday, October 13th, beginning at 5 pm in the rehearsal room at MATCH (Midtown Arts and Theatre Center of Houston). 

Performers interested in being considered should submit a pdf of a recent headshot and updated resume as one file attached to an email submitted to rachelbush@hotmail.com. Materials need to be submitted by  Thursday, October 10th at 6 pm.

Audition Content:

Performers should prepare one – 1-minute monologue and 16 bars, acapella, of a holiday song.

Rehearsal/ Show Information:

Rehearsals will take place evenings and weekends beginning October 21. Locations will vary.

 

Performances:

Nov. 14, 15, 16, 17, 22, 23, 24, 27, 29, 30 and

Dec. 1, 6, 7, 8, 13, 14, 15, 20, 21, 22, 23, 26, 27, 28, 29.

All performances will take place at the Galveston Railroad Museum on a moving train.

We are seeking actors with total availability.

Audition Information:

All positions PAID. Seeking actors and musical theater performers for this interactive theatrical show based on the film by Warner Bros. In addition to talent, we are looking for performers who are collaborative team players, enjoy working with kids and who embrace the interaction between themselves and passengers to create a fun, entertaining and heartwarming experience.

  • You will receive an email to schedule your audition appointment, confirm location/parking, and additional info. 

  • Please note there are a limited amount of auditions slots. To ensure an audition please submit as soon as possible.

 

Character Breakdown:


Conductor: male-identified, all ethnicities to play 25-50, charming, outgoing, personable. Light sing-along carol singing required.

Santa: male-identified character actor all ethnicities to play 40+, warm, sincere, full of real joy, non-singing. Natural beard a plus.


Hobo: male-identified, all ethnicities to play 22-40, high-energy, assertive, gruff, imposing but masks a joyful heart. Light sing-along carol singing required.

Ensemble: m/f identified all ethnicities to play 20-35, singer/actors for various roles & duties, outgoing, joy-filled, team players! 


Hero Boy: male/ female-identified to play 9 to 12 years old, all ethnicities, 5'3" or under, sincere & kind, albeit a bit skeptical. Light sing-along carol singing required.

Elves:  In addition to the above, the production will need elves (ages 10 and up) to join Santa!  The elves do not require full availability and will have minimal rehearsals.  The elves will receive a small stipend.
